Every two years, the “Journées Arithmétiques” connects number theorists all over the world to enhance their collaborations and allow researchers to share their results. Unfortunately, the global outbreak of the (COVID-19) coronavirus does not allow large gatherings to be held in a safe environment. Due to the evolving nature of the situation, it is extremely difficult at this time to organise large scientific events, even nine months ahead. For this reason, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the “Journées Arithmétiques” in Nancy (France) to Summer 2022.
This was a hard decision to make and we are aware that it might cause some disappointment. However, your health is our greatest concern, and we want this conference to be a celebration of mathematics, and more specifically, number theory. We are hoping that this event will allow real interactions, especially between young researchers in the field.
Several reports forecast rather uncertain months ahead, but we look optimistically forward to hold the “Journées Arithmétiques 2022” as a (large) in-person conference. We will give you more updates about our 2022 event over the next several months on the same webpage.
The organizing committee,
Anne de Roton
